The town of Lipik is the westernmost of a total of 5 Slavonian towns in Požega-Slavonia County. We can freely say that our city is at the gates of Slavonia, where Slavonian customs and culture begin. Lipik is a small town in the valley of the slopes of Psunj along the river Pakra.
Tourism is based on the year-round offer of the Lipik Spa and the Lipik State Stud Farm, a summer complex of outdoor swimming pools, events and recreation in nature.
Discovered hyperthermal springs in the forest have invigorated many since Roman times. Throughout history, the century-old oak forest has been supplemented with new plants and thematically arranged in a neo-baroque park, and a unique health resort has been created around the spring. Lipik has always experienced progress and change and precisely because of its long history and different cultures, it is interesting to guests today.
The atypical Slavonian town began to attract tourists at the beginning of the 19th century, which followed the economic development of the whole area. Among the first visitors eager for rest and health were friends and nobles of the Janković family. For 100 years, the family has been responsible for the design of the park and the breeding of horses on the nearby estate, from where the breeding of noble Lipizzaners started and the State Stud Farm Lipik was founded.
In the middle of the 19th century, new buildings of spas and villas were built, and Lipik gained an aristocratic flair. With a top offer of spas, the peculiarity of the neo-baroque park and aristocratic recreation on the stud farm, Lipik was recognized as a modern destination of continental tourism in Europe. The era at the end of the 19th century with the new tourist facilities Marble Baths, Dependence, Kurhotel, Wandelbahn and Cursalon, many promenades and fountains in the park is called “Belle Epoque” Lipika. The destination is connected by train with Vienna and Budapest, and becomes a destination for many tourists throughout the year.
Throughout the 20th century, Lipik expanded with the construction of villas, a complex of outdoor swimming pools, later a new hotel and natural attractions. At the end of the same century, a striking time of war came to us that lasted a short time. Nevertheless, Lipik is again at the beginning of the ongoing economic development, and in the last 10 years, tourism has also begun to develop.
Today, health tourism Toplica Lipik is increasingly important, and the recreational offer of the State Stud Farm Lipik is increasingly high quality. The unique tourist offer of Lipik and the long tradition of tourism positions Lipik as a special place for your vacation and recreation in the only Slavonian county.
We invite you to come to Lipik to get acquainted with the rich and turbulent past, and enjoy the uniqueness of our offer.
